Kate and Django, the visionary minds behind KindaSound Radio, recognized the importance of building a robust foundation. In our relaunch this past November, we welcomed an array of exceptional presenters who bring authenticity, skill, and real-life experience to the forefront. At KindaSound Youth, we believe in empowering young individuals to work alongside presenters who inspire. Our training programmes and youth-led radio station are dedicated to nurturing young talent, enabling them to produce and present their own live radio shows and podcasts.
We understand that interventions are most effective when young people feel heard and included in the creative process. Our focus shifts from highlighting what's wrong in their lives to showcasing their achievements. Each young person is viewed as an individual, not a problem. We collaborate with them to enhance their lives, foster positive change, and integrate them into a growing community.
Our radio training programmes start with an 8-week introductory course, following on to more specialised courses such as Becoming a Presenter, Digital Media, Music and Jingles, Content Creation and more.
Our 8-week Seed to Plate programme teaches individuals the importance of growing food, harvesting, the principles of sustaining healthy eating, the impact it has on our body and wellbeing, and how to make healthy creations.
All our courses are designed to provide evidence of growth and skills-development through recorded sessions and podcast creation. We are dedicated to equipping and empowering young individuals with transferable skills to navigate life successfully. Central to our mission is the well-being and self-care of young people, especially those facing various challenges and barriers.
Our participant-led approach accommodates young people facing mental health issues, behavioral challenges, engagement difficulties, family circumstances, school transitions, or those simply seeking enjoyment. Expected outcomes include improved well-being, motivation, engagement, education, and health.
Our quality assurance processes include weekly monitoring through evaluations and audio recordings at the end of each session, along with monthly supervisions. These processes ensure that our work consistently positively impacts the well-being of young individuals.
After the Course
The conclusion of the programme does not mark the end of the journey with KindaSound Radio. Ensuring the well-being and success of our participants is paramount to us as an organisation, ensuring that each individual thrives. We pride ourselves on our after-course care. Participants are invited to explore further opportunities such as work experience in either our café or on our radio station, getting involved in our gardening projects, joining our steering group, or contributing to KindaSound Radio in various roles such as presenter, interviewer, researcher, audio engineer, content creator, blog contributor, social media copywriter, fundraiser, or mentor to other young individuals joining our programmes. The possibilities for growth and contribution are limitless. Join us on our website to explore the heart of KindaSound Youth!
