Unconditionally... Christmas

By Adi Andreeva

December 24, 2022

At its core, unconditional love means loving someone or something without any conditions. In other words, to keep loving, no matter what the other person says, no matter what they do, what they feel, think or believe.

Unconditional love is a feeling that we can feel towards animals, places, even emotions and thoughts, but most importantly, we can direct our unconditional love directly towards ourselves.

The more capable we are of loving ourselves unconditionally, the more capable we will be of loving others in the same way.

This healing, supreme way of loving echoes the famous words of Jesus:

"Love your neighbor as yourself,"

and also of Lao Tzu,

"When you accept yourself, the whole world accepts you."

In fact, what we call "love" today is not love at all - much more often with this word we define various forms of attraction, passion, dependence, liking and even the selfish need to keep someone.

But the truth is that true – unconditional love is extremely rare and therefore priceless.

When can we be sure that we are truly and unconditionally loved?

The answer is:

When we feel fully understood, heard and noticed, accepted and loved - just as we are. It is the greatest, most liberating feeling we can experience.

The lack of unconditional love in life is the reason for the constant "hunger" we experience, emotionally and spiritually. And because we are "hungry", we are also sick and in constant need of healing.

And what is Conditional love?

Conditional love is the complete opposite of unconditional love.

Conditional love is not "love" in the true sense of the word because it comes from the ego, not the heart.

Unlike unconditional love, which we give without demands, regardless of the circumstances, conditional love must be "earned" - only if we deserve it can we expect respect, affection, kindness…

While unconditional love is all-encompassing and boundless, conditional love is its complete opposite.

While unconditional love needs nothing to exist, conditional love depends on what it gets in return.

Here's what the equation looks like:

I will only love you if... (you do this, say that, if you make me feel a certain way).

In its essence, conditional love is self-centered, as a result of which it also has an expiration date - it will last as long as its conditions are met, among which are:

I will only love you if you allow me to participate in your decisions about your own life…

I will only love you if you don't interfere in my life decisions…

I will only love you if you act right…

I will only love you if you continue to make compromises and sacrifices for me…

I will only love you if you always put my needs first…

I will only love you if you give up your dreams for me…

I will love you only if you love me too…

…If you…

In fact, as unpleasant as it sounds, relationships with partners, children, family, friends and parents can also be infected by conditional love. Many of us have had similar relationships.

What we need, however, and what we keep searching for throughout our lives, is precisely unconditional love. It is of paramount importance for our well-being, for our physical, emotional and mental health.

The saddest thing is that most people don't even realize that they carry within themselves the source of unconditional love.

Rather, they tend to believe that love is always found in the outside world, in some person, animal, place, or certain way of being…

This is why we need to realize the need for unconditional love, because it is crucial to our lives – just as sunlight is crucial to plants.

Due to the absence of unconditional love, we remain "hungry", we remain emotionally "malnourished" and accordingly - unhappy and ill…This, in turn, causes us to enter toxic relationships and exit them with broken hearts and hopes again and again.

Unconditional love heals. To be loved, no matter the circumstances, no matter the difficulties you face, no matter your weaknesses or the failures you suffer, is medicine and in any case - the most true way to peace, harmony and well-being.

Happy Christmas ❤️🎄💖
