The Venerable Silouan (Simeon) of Mount Athos (1866-1938) left many wise thoughts.

This Russian monk, who has spent most of his life on Mount Athos, continues to attract attention with his very simple interpretations of what interests most people on the spiritual path.

Here you can find a few wise thoughts of this humble monk who left his Imperishable wisdom to all the children of the future:

"Who is the best teacher? - The Suffering.

Who is the worst teacher? - The pleasure.

What is the most unusual skill? - The ability to give.

What is the best skill? - The ability to forgive.

What is the most difficult skill? - The ability to remain silent.

What is the most important skill? - The ability to ask.

What is the most necessary skill? - The ability to listen.

What is the most dangerous fight? - The fanatic.

What is the most unpleasant habit? - The quarrel.

What is the most harmful habit? "Nonsense."

Who is the strongest person? - The one who can achieve the truth.

Who is the weakest person? - The one who considered himself the strongest.

Who is the strongest person? - The one who overcomes himself.

How to resist trouble?-  "With joy."

How can we oppose suffering?-  "With patience."

What is the sign of a healthy soul? - Faith.

What is the sign of a sick soul? - Indifference.

What is the sign of wrongdoing? - The irritation.

What is the sign of good deeds? - The peace of the soul."
