Compassion: The Currency of the Future

By Adi Andreeva

…There once lived a wandering teacher. Once, while walking on his way, he saw a man who was loaded with very heavy luggage. The load was so heavy that the poor little man could barely move. Then the wise teacher asked him:

"Why did you take on this heavy burden?" Doesn't your body suffer under the pressure of luggage?

- Of course, I suffer. But I do this to make my children happy. My great-grandfather suffered so that my grandfather could be happy, and my grandfather suffered so that my father could be happy. Then my father suffers all his life to make me happy. It is now my duty to act like them.

After hearing his story, the sage asked:

"And so far, has anyone in your family been happy, at least for a while?"

- No! But I am convinced that my children will live happily! Said the stranger.

- But how the illiterate will teach others to write, and the mole will teach the eagle to fly! The teacher was indignant.

"Learn to be happy first." Only then will you be able to show your children how to live like that. If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.”

Compassion is a Passion with a Heart!

Decide to give

When you meet someone, you can silently send them a blessing, wish them happiness, joy and more laughter. This kind of silent donation has tremendous power.

One of the useful things I learned as a child and I always share with others is- never to enter someone's house empty-handed. Would you say how to give when I am also in need?... Well, you can bring a flower. One flower. You can bring a card or just a note in which to write something nice to the person you are going to. You can bring a prayer…

Just decide to give freely something good wherever you go, whoever you meet.

The wonderful effect of this law is:  the more you give, the more inner joy and confidence you will gain. And when you receive, your ability to give more will also grow. When you have a good heart and wisdom, you automatically gain the right motivation and desire to do what is needed at the very moment in time.

If people begin to be guided in their actions by true compassion and understanding, then we can save ourselves and the environment. And learning, and doing so is much easier than adapting to the difficult and unpredictable conditions that are projected for the future.

“If you want to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” - Dalai Lama
