But Happiness is Very Simple

"Joy is not a constant. It comes to us in moments - often ordinary moments. Sometimes we miss out on the bursts of joy because we're too busy chasing down the extraordinary moments. Other times we're so afraid of the dark we don't dare let ourselves enjoy the light. A joyful life is not a floodlight of joy. That would eventually become unbearable. I believe a joyful life is made up of joyful moments gracefully strung together by trust, gratitude and inspiration."

– Brené Brown

Don't kid yourself that you'll be all satisfied when you get all the things you think you want.

You will ask for more things, and when there is nothing left to ask for, you will be unhappy that you have nothing to ask for…

And how many examples around you show that wealth and fame are not a guarantee of happiness and satisfaction?

You become a contented person by feeling content, right now, with the life that is yours.

And a truly content person can change the world and make it a more joyful and meaningful place for everyone else.

This life, with all its joys and sorrows—this life is the life you must have.

Most people go through life feeling dissatisfied.

Whatever their life is, they believe it is not good enough and go about their days believing they will achieve the ideal they are chasing.

More money. More recognition. Better relationships. Better health.

They believe that only if they have x, y and z would they feel good in their lives.

But because they don't have x, y and z, they are convinced that something is wrong with their lives.

Yes, you don't have x, y and z. This is true.

But you have a, b and c.

You don't have x, y, and z right now because you shouldn't have x, y, and z right now.

You currently have a, b, and c.

What are a, b and c?

Everything in your life that brings you joy and meaning.

Everything, no matter how seemingly small or insignificant it is.

Maybe you have a favorite pet.

Maybe you ate or drank something delicious today.

Maybe you went for a walk in the fresh air and now you feel good.

This is your a, b and c. That's what you have right now and it is exactly what should be yours right now.

And the more you focus your energy and attention on what you have now, the more you will enjoy this life that is yours - this life that should be yours.

Leave x, y and z. Let go of what you think you should have and don't have.

People think that happiness is a complicated and unattainable thing.

But happiness is very simple

A happy man loves and cherishes the life he is given. He doesn't want another life.

This does not mean that happy people are unmotivated, aimless, and take no action to make their dreams come true.

The belief that motivation is always born from dissatisfaction and the desire for more is simply not true.

In fact, it is quite possible for motivation to be born from a state of wholeness and well-being and to provoke action to playfully explore what if, what would I be like if…

All those unsatisfied people on the world stage, all those "tyrants" - they are simply sad and always fighting for more…

Resist this type of motivation and always move through your life with the clear thought that what you do and what is happening is full of meaning and even in the worst of all times there's something very special to be joyful for.

If the world were inhabited by contented and joyful people, there would be no tyrants who take advantage of their power and positions in an attempt to satisfy their hunger for more…

And all would be just enough…. Simple and joyful.

"It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters."
